研究概要	日本学術会議「創薬基礎科学の推進」に関する勧告に沿ってこの分野を推進するにあたり、総合研究(B)班は重点領域研究を申請すべく準備を進めてきた。9月11日に東京医科歯科大学で行われた第一回の班会議は全員が各自の研究を例にとりながら、創薬基礎科学にどの様に取り組んだらよいかを討論した。「創薬基礎科学」とは何をさし、どの様な内容であるべきかがその議論の中心であった。これと別に総合研究(A)日高班も二度の会議を開き、重点領域として具体的にとりあげるべき内容、焦点について討論した。第二回班会議は平成6年2月28日、渋谷の日本薬学会長井記念館において、東京大薬学部広部雅昭教授を班長とする総合研究(B)班と合同で公開シンポジウムを開催した。演者は鹿取班より大塚正徳教授(東京医歯大・医)、宮本英七教授(熊本大・医)、加藤隆一教授(慶応大・医)の3名、広部班より野村靖幸教授(北海道大・薬)、長尾拓教授(東京大・薬)、首藤紘一教授(東京大・薬)の3名計6名であり、多くの聴衆による熱心な討論が行われた。これらの班会議を通じての討論の結果を総合すると、次のようになる。細胞生理、生体機能を研究している基礎医学研究者がその研究を進める上で、ある生化学反応を抑制する試薬があればその使用は機能を知る上で極めて重要な武器となる。その必要とするプローブを作成することはその研究に役立つことになるし、一方これをもとに企業がリード化合物を作成することが出来れば、全く新しい概念にもとずく医薬品が開発される。本総合研究(B)班が到達した結論は、創薬基礎科学とは基礎医学研究者の渇望する研究用プローブを作成し、細胞機能の解明に役立たせることである。
