岩石の微生物腐食の評価装置

研究概要

本研究補助金で製作した低真空ウエット走査型電子顕微鏡と位相差偏光顕微鏡とで実験試料(風化花崗岩とウラン鉱物,鉱山,鉱床のずり,湖沼堆積物,汚染土壌,バイオマット)中のバクテリアを,観察および化学分析した(田崎が担当).また,同時に岩石や鉱物の同定には,光学顕微鏡,X線粉末回折分析や質量分析計(飯泉が担当)を用いて詳細な結晶構造,微細形態や化学組成を解明した.一方,山陰地方および北陸地方で採集した水と堆積物を用いてビーカーの中でバクテリアを培養してその変化を透過型電子顕微鏡と低真空ウエット走査型電子顕微鏡で観察し,バクテリアの細胞内外にFe,Mn,Zn,U,Asなどを含む生体鉱物を発見した.
当初に計画した研究目的を十分達成した.その研究成果は日本粘土学会,世界粘土会議,世界生体鉱物学会,世界地質環境汚染シンポジュームでそれぞれ学会講演を行った.さらに,1994年12月オーストラリアで行われた世界微生物無機化学シンポジュームで発表した.また,国内,海外の学術雑誌に1993年から1996年3月までに40編の論文を公表した.
