研究概要

パルサー風と星間物質、星間風との相互作用を数値シミュレーションによって調べるため、計算コードの開発を行なっている。具体的には、CIP法というレーザー核融合の研究で開発されてきた高精度多次元流体シミュレーションコードを天体現象に合うように改造することである。開発の第1段階では、爆発によって生じ星間物質中を伝播する衝撃波の再現を試み、目的のセドフ解を再現することができた。第2段階では、マッハ数のあまり大きくない場合について、パルサー風と星間物質との相互作用を取扱い、数値計算から得られた衝撃波の伝播は理論から予想される結果と一致した。第3段階では、パルサー風と星間風の相互作用を扱かうプログラムの開発を行なった。この条件では、パルサー風の動圧と星間風の動圧とがつり合う位置に弓形の衝撃波ができることが予想される。開発したコードは、マッハ数のあまり大きくない場合、この弓形の衝撃波を安定に計算することができるものとなった。現在は、第3段階までの計算コードを発展させ、マッハ数の大きい場合も扱えるようにする最終段階にある。しかし、数値不安定が生じ、計算を継続できなくなるという問題に直面している。たぶん採用している人工粘性に問題があるのではないかと考え、現在原因を究明しているところである。
