研究概要

本研究は今年度も、5つの研究班と1つの評価班による研究組織で研究を実施した。先ず7月29、30の両日に評価班を含めた全体会議を行い、今年度の重点研究項目の確認と研究実施方法に関する具体的な討論を行った。成果発表は1月13、14の両日に行われた。
各研究班独自の研究及び各班間の協同研究により以下の研究成果が得られた。金属ナノ粒子の研究では金属マトリックス中にナノスケールの磁性体微粒子を分散させた各種グラニュラー物質を作成し、その物性の特徴を明らかにして、材料特性の最適化を試みた。具体的には、Fe/Ag、Fe/Cuグラニュラー物質を作製し、その物性と構造解析を多角的測定により行った。その結果、磁気的パーコレーションが生じる組成で、電気抵抗の急激な変化と磁気抵抗の最大が達成されることが明らかになり、磁気抵抗効果の最適化に関する重要な知見が得られた。ナオ粒子の光学非線形の研究では既に完成した非線形光学測定装置を用いてCuCl、BiI_3、Ge、CdTgナノ粒子のポンププローブ分光を低温で行った。CuClについては、ナノ粒子特有の大きな光学非線形性が励起子分子の生成により生じることを明かにし、励起子数の増減により非線形感受率の大小を制御出来ることを確かめた。新物質として結晶質、非晶質材料に続く第3の材料と言われる準結晶をとりあげ、従来報告のない強磁性を示す準結晶を初めて作製することに成功した。Al-Pd-Mn-B系準結晶では最高60emn/gの磁化率が得られた。準結晶の構造と化学組成の解析には本研究で開発された原子配列同定アトムプローブ分析法の有効性が確認された。固体表面又包接化合物内に担持されたナノ粒子の研究では、IV族、VI族マイクロクラスターやフラーレン格子の電子状態、カーボンナノカプセル中のFe、Ni微粒子の形態および磁性、ゼオライト中のアルカリ金属磁性等において数々の新しい材料的機能が見出された。
