研究概要

1)国際学術研究(共同研究)班会議開催。1994年6月イタリア・ボロ-ニャ市で開催の第VI回ライム・ボレリア症国際会議に先立ち6月18日ホテル・サンドナートにおいて班会議を開いた。研究経過と評価、今後の研究方針について討論し、11月に招聘予定者を中心とする「ライム病国際シンポジウム」を日本において開催することの意義を了承し、プログラム、講演要旨集刊行、役割分担など運営について具体的決定を行った。
2)ライム病国際シンポジウム。当国際学術研究(共同研究)メンバー並びに神大川端真人、旭川医大橋本喜夫、中国医学科学院張哲夫、韓国建国大学朴慶熈博士らの第一線研究者を招聘して11月12日浜松市舘山寺において組織委員長柳原保武で開催した。米国、中国、韓国、台湾などからも参加者があり、参加者に強いインパクトを与え、第2回ライム病国際シンポジウム開催の要望もあがり、会議は成功裏に終了した。
3)遺伝学的解析と分類。シュルツェマダニ由来ボレリアの小さな鞭毛蛋白質遺伝子をクローンし、塩基配列を決定、DNA相同性、16SrRNA遺伝子の塩基配列、G+C含量から回帰熱ボレリアに近縁の新種であることを示した。(福長ら)
4)ライム病の伝播経路。アカハラ、アオジなどのトリがライム病病原体保有動物であること、日本のB.afzelliはアカネズミ-ダニ間で、B.gariniiはトリーダニ間で維持され、日本産菌株の伝播経路の特徴を明らかにした。(宮本、中尾ら)
5)病原性発現機序。B.burgdorferi病原株の63代継代で主要表層蛋白質Osp C消失、非病原株を得、Osp Cの発現が感染性、病原性に関連していること、また、非病原株ではOsp C遺伝子の転写阻害が起こっており、転写調節に与かっていると考えられる蛋白質の存在を明らかにした。(増沢ら)
