研究概要	従来、植物器官の代謝機能発現と形態形成に関する研究は別の研究分野として発展し、分子レベルで結びつけられることはほとんどなかった。植物器官の代謝機能や形態形成は、転写制御因子や情報伝達因子などを介した制御ネットワークで結びつけられた多数の遺伝子の働きによって決められているが、重要な制御因子の遺伝子や遺伝的制御ネットワークが明らかにされた例はまだ僅かである。本重点領域研究『植物器官プラン』では、器官に特有な代謝機能の発現や器官の分化や形態形成に関わる遺伝的制御のネットワークを、モデル植物の分子遺伝学的研究やトランスジェニック植物を使った遺伝子機能の個体レベルでの解析などを導入して解析し、器官形成過程での形態形成と代謝機能発現の連動、器官分化の制御といった植物の成長における高次の調節機構を探る分子的基礎を得ることを目的としている。本総括班では、こうした研究を重点領域として推進することで最大限の相乗効果が得られるような研究環境の整備を行うことを目的としている。平成7年度には班員の全員参加による4日間に渡る全体会議を開催して集中的な討議を行うと共に、ニュースレター「Plant Organ Plan Research Network」をNo.6からNo.9までの4号発刊して班員間の情報交流を推進した。さらに本重点領域研究に関わりの深い特定領域についての討議を深めて共同研究を推進するためのワークショップとして『植物のプロテインキナーゼとシグナル伝達』を開催し、また重点領域研究「植物ホルモン機構」との合同ワークショップ『植物の形づくり』を開催して研究交流を深めた。また若手育成のための若手ワークショップは、多数の参加者を得て活発な会となった。本年度も、本重点領域研究主催の公開シンポジウム『植物の生長プログラム:器官の形成と機能のダイナミズムへの遺伝子からのアプローチ』のみならず、日本植物生理学会でのシンポジウムを共催して、本領域研究の中間段階での成果の一端を公開して、一般への啓蒙のみならず広く助言を仰いだ。
