研究概要	本班は1988〜90年の3年間に約12万人の健康住民コホートについて基礎調査をし、その後10年間のがん死亡ならびにがん罹患状況を追跡、がん発生に関連する要因を検討、評価することを目的とする。 (1)死亡は国へ報告された死亡小票をベースに、死因・死亡年月日などの調査を毎年実施しており、1997年末までに確認された死亡者は11,333名(男6,503名、女4,830名)で、そのうちの約1/3が新生物によるものであった。がん罹患状況は、24施設中15施設で調査中であり、また別に産業企業体従業員3万人を対象に同様の追跡調査を実施しており今後、地域住民との比較、若年層のがん発生状況など貴重な資料が得られるものと期待される。 (2)既に収集したデータ(食品摂取頻度調査、運動調査)の信頼性を確認するための小グループが活動している。この結果がほぼまとまり、データヘの信頼性が確認された。臓器別死亡関連要因の詳細については、グループを作り検討を始めた。とくに、胃・肺がんは解析に着手している。これらの成果は、21世紀のがん対策の資料やがん研究の推進に用いられる。 (3)冷凍保管している約5万人分の血清は、がんの分子疫学検討班とも討議し、約15,000人分について、IGF-I、IGF-II、sFas、TGF-βの測定を開始した。
