研究概要

計画通り4研究グループによる共同研究を行い，また合同シンポジウムによって，研究グループ間の研究交流を行った．主要な成果は，次の通りである．
「アルゴリズムの基礎理論」研究グループでは，昨年度に引き続き1次元セルオートマトンの挙動に関する解析が行われ，不明であったいくつかの場合についてその性質が明らかにされた．また，パターンにより特徴付けることができる形式言語のクラスの性質について，いくつかの知見が得られた．
「論理学とアルゴリズム論」研究グループでは，計算可能関数により定義できる実数の性質が明らかにされた他，知識論理・様相論理の標準形展開基底による特性化が得られた．また，ファジー関係の計算を関係代数として定式化することにより，一般の関係計算としてとらえることが可能であることが示された．
「プログラム言語と計算モデル」研究グループでは，有理拍車の概念が提案され，それがプログラムの検証と実時間動作解析に有用であることが示された．また，束時相論理によって，プログラムの時間を含む仕様を表現しまた動作の解析を行う場合の諸問題について，いくつかの結果が得られた．
「具体的アルゴリズムと計算量」研究グループでは，係り受けを基本関係とする自然言語のモデルによる英文翻訳システムについての報告がなされた他，正および負の例題から最適なモティーフを抽出するための新しい手法が提案された．
