研究概要

1.エンドウの単-突然変異体であるIKaおよび1kbがブラシノステロイド(BR)の生合成突然変異体である可能性を示した。IKaは生合成の後半部、1kbは初期の生合成に変異を有していることが明かとなった(横田、中山)。
2.ブラシノライドの生合成に関して以下の点を見いだし、ブラシノライド生合成のかなりの部分を明らかにすることに成功した(藤岡、桜井成、横田、高津戸、中山、安部)。
(1)新たな中間体として3-dehydroteasteroneを発見した。
(2)初期の生合成経路として、campesterol→campestanol→6α-hydroxy-campestanol→6-oxocampestanolおよび22-hydroxy-3-oxocampesterol→teasterone十typhasterolの経路を発見した。
3.BRによる成長作用は皮膚微小官の再配列を横向きにすることにより促進されるが、微小官とは関係のない機構も存在することを明らかにした(柴岡)。
4.BRの伸長促進作用は内部組織の細胞壁の機械的な性質が変わることにより起こることを明らかにした。オーキシンにはこのような作用がなく、BRの標的器官は内部組識であることが明かとなった(桜井直樹)。
5.BRの生理作用として、以下の事項を見いだした(勝見、古谷、林、竹内)。
(1)低温におけるATPase活性消失はBRにより回復する。
(2)BRは根の成長は阻害するが、根毛の成長は促進する。
(3)培養細胞(砂糖大根)におけるべタシアニンはBR処理により倍になる。
(4)ポプラ培養細胞ではキシログルカン転柊酵素はBRによって発現しない。
(5)湛水直播においてBRは有効な発芽促進剤である.
