生態化学研究を推進するための新しいタイプのネットワーク構想

研究概要	地球の温暖化や生物多様性の喪失など、地球環境問題の深刻化に伴い、生態科学が答えるべき社会的課題は大きくなっている。そこで「生物と佳境と相互作用」、「多様な生物間の複雑な関係」、「生物の進化と多様性」など、マクロなレベルでの生命現象の解明をめざすと共に、生態科学の立場から環境問題の解決に貢献できる体制を作る第一段階として、京都大学の生態学研究センターが1991年に設置された。さらにこれを発展させるべく、1992年に日本生態学会は国立生態科学研究所構想第7次案をまとめた。本研究は7次案の主な課題である「Center of Excellence」、「人事の流動と活性化」、「人と情報のネットワーク」、「国際的高等教育機関」、「本格的な共同研究を推進できる体制」などを全く新しいタイプのネットワークの構築を通して実現する道を提示することを目的として行われた。具体的な方法としては、研究会を開いて以下の項目を検討した。 1)具体的な当面の最大の共通テーマ 2)本格的な共同研究を推進するための、コアとなる組織と研究機関のネットワークの全体構造 3)人事の流動化と活性化を促進メカニズムに関する斬新なアイデア 4)共同利用を必要とする、これからの生態科学にとって最も有用な研究施設 5)研究機関のネットワークの具体化 6)生態学研究の飛躍的発展のためのPost Doc層の最大活用化 7)国際対応できる生態科学における大学院教育のカリキュラム作成 8)国際共同研究推進と有機的に連動した大学院生の国際交流検討結果を整理し、「国立バイスフィア研究ネットワーク構想」としてまとめた。この構想案は、生態学の研究を有効に進める新しい研究機関の設立を含めた、研究機関のネットワークを実現化するひとつの具体的な道のりを示すものである。
