3d遷移金属酸化物のフィリング制御とモット転移

研究概要

1.前年度に続き、R_<1-x>Ca_xTiO_3の研究を継続した。この系は、希土類Rのイオン半径、およびCa濃度xを変えることにより、電子相関の強さU/Wとバンドフィリングnを双方独立に制御することが出来る典型的な3次元強相関電子系である。光学測定の結果、バンドフィリングnが1から減少するにつれて、モットギャップ間の遷移スペクトルが崩壊しドル-デスペクトルが成長すること、また形式的なホール濃度δ=1-nに対するドル-デスペクトルの成長速度がバンド制御モット転移の臨界点が近づくにつれて発散的に増大すること、などを見出した。
2.La_<1-x>Sr_xVO_3は、母体LaVO_3は3d^2モット絶縁体であり、Srド-ピング(ホールド-ピング)によって絶縁体-金属転移をおこす。この物質系の電気的、磁気的、光学的性質の研究をおこなった。光学スペクトルより、この系の絶縁体-金属転移はド-ピングにともなうモットギャップ内へのスペクトル強度の移動によって特徴づけられることがわかった。また金属相の抵抗は、転移近傍でρ=ρο+AT^<1.5>のような温度依存性を2-200Kという広い温度範囲で示すこと、また係数Aは相境界が近づくにつれて増大することが分かった。
3.RNiO_3は3d^7低スピン状態(スピン1/2)をとるNi^<3+>イオンを持ち、希土類のイオン半径を変えることにより、金属から絶縁体へと変化する。これらの物質の光学スペクトルを室温で測定し、希土類を変えることによって数eVにわたるスペクトルの移動が起こることがわかった。さらに200Kで常磁性金属から反強磁性絶縁体へ転移するR=Nd(NdNiO_3)の光学スペクトルの温度変化を測定した結果、200K以下で電荷ギャップが開き、ギャップ内のスペクトル強度が0.3eV以上の領域に移動することを見出した。
