研究概要	複数運動の順序制御に関与する大脳皮質の各領野の活動についてはいまだに報告がなされていないが、障害後の欠落徴候の観察から、補足運動野の役割が示唆されてきた。そこで本研究では、個々の神経細胞活動が、順序制御を要する複数運動遂行課題に伴って、如何なる変化を示すかを、大脳皮質の補足運動野と一次運動野の細胞について比較しながら解析した。日本ザルの右腕にマニピュランダムを装着し、それに対し(1)左に回転させる、(2)前方に押す、(3)後方に引くという3種の運動を行わせた。まず前方パネル上のLEDの色によって行うべき運動を指示した、サルは特定の順序を、5会の試行の間に記憶することを要求された、それに引き続く6回の試行に於いては、記憶した順序によって、LEDの指示梨で3種の運動を行った。最初の運動開始前には、2.5〜4.5秒の待機時間を、2番目、3番目それぞれの前には約1秒の待機時間を設定した。次に無菌的手術で装着したシリンダーから微小電極を刺入し、単一細胞の活動を記録解析した。一次運動野細胞の多数例に於ては、特定の運動遂行に伴う活動がみられ、その活動変化の大きさは、運動の順序とは無関係に一定であった。しかし補足運動野細胞の多数例については、行うべき運動の種類に特異的なのではなく、如何なる順序で運動を行おうとするかについて特異的な活動が、待機時間中に記録された。この実験結果は、順序制御に於いて補足運動野活動が、重要な役割をもつことを示唆する。また、補足運動野の神経回路網において、行うべき複数の運動パターンが形成されることも示唆され、極めて興味深いデータが得られたといえる。今後は大脳の他の領野について検索を進めたい。
