研究概要

海産無脊椎動物の純系動物化に関して、東京大学三崎臨海実験所では日本では絶滅に近いと言われているナメクジウオを全国各地で採集し、その飼育法の確立と人工受精を試み、前者は成功裏に進んだ。更に新鋭採集調査船を用いて実験所周辺を調査し、3個体のナメクジウオの捕獲に成功し、本種が未だ全国各地に細々ながら生息している可能性を示し今後の生息数の回復に向け展望を開いた。また、原索動物尾虫綱オタマボヤの人工受精と幼生の飼育の試みを開始した。岡山大学牛窓臨海実験所では、原始的三胚葉性動物として興味深い材料である偏形動物無腸目Convoluta naikaiensisの実験動物化をめざして採集法、飼育法、採卵法に関して検討を行った。またその系統及び初期発生に関し基礎的研究を行った。広島大学向島臨海実験所では、世界的に広く分布し共通の実験材料として重要性が増大しているカタユウレイボヤと、卵が透明で重金属のバナジウムを高濃度に濃縮しているスジキレボヤの二種に絞り込んで、養殖条件を検討し、大量養殖を行って安定供給をはかることを目的として研究を推進し、純系動物化への試みを行った。星はマボヤの飼育法を確立するために各種の人工飼料を与え、成長速度を計測している。
遺伝子の解析に関して、雨宮は有柄ウミユリ類トリノアシ精子より得られたgenomic DNAを用いて遺伝子ライブラリーを作成し、そのライブラリーを用い、ウニより得られた骨片形成遺伝子sm-50及びHox遺伝子6種をプローブとして、トリノアシにおけるこれら遺伝子のhomologueを分離した。トリノアシsm-50について塩基配列の決定を行っている。後藤は実験室で継代飼育下カエデイソヤムシから3種のアクチン遺伝子を単離し、その発現部位を特定した。この結果をもとに、ヤムシと他の動物との類縁関係を考察した。星はユウレイボヤの遺伝的多型をrRNAを用いて調べ、中華人民共和国の青島市黄島では、宮城県女川で見られたものと酷似していること、さらにユウレイボヤ精巣細胞の染色体数が14または15であることを明らかにした。
