研究概要	本研究課題では、アジアにおけるHTLV-1感染の実態を明らかにする事を目的として、分子疫学調査と実態・HLAとの関連について解析している。1)インドネシア産のオランウータン3検体、手長ザル1検体をSTLV-1陽性として新たに検出した。ウイルスの遺伝子解析からオランウータンのSTLV-1は非常に変異を蓄積し、2つのクラスターを形成することが判った。HTLV-1のメラネシア型は系統的にアジアのSTLV-1群に属すが、オランウータンのSTLV-1とはあまり類似しておらずメラネシア型の直接の起源がオランウータンとは考えにくい。2)インドでは南部ケラク州で供血者400名を検索したが全て陰性であった。カルナタカ州では、高リスク群(STD患者)で陽性者が見出されたが、TSP患者20人では陰性であった。アンドラプラデッシュ州では昨年度の調査で陽性の2名の家族から採血を行いウイルス分離を試みている。遺伝子解析では、インドのHTLV-1は世界的に拡がっているTranscontinental亜型の中でも多様性を示し、この亜型が過去に世界中に伝播していく過程でインドが中心地的な役割を担ったと考えられる。3)東南アジアでは、マレーシアの北部50名、タイ南部20名(T細胞白血病患者)、イリアンジャヤ220名(イリアンジャヤ高地に住むダニ族44名を含む)の検索を行ったがいずれも陰性であった。4)パキスタン及びアフガニスタンの山岳少数民族を中心に約200検体、アゼルバイジャン約900検体、アルタイ約900検体の検査を行ったところ全て陰性であった。5)イスラエルに移住したイランのマシャディ出身のユダヤ人について、HLTV-1関連神経疾患患者のHLAタイプを調べたところB52が有意に多く、このタイプと疾患との関連が支持された。
