運動視における運動方向の弁別と判断に関与する脳内機構の研究

研究概要	本研究は、サルの脳のどの領域がどのレベルの運軌視覚の処理に関与しているか、また、それらの領域がどのような様式で運軌視覚の情報を処理しているかの解明を目指している。その目的のため、今年度は日本側では、サルの運動視の知覚、認知、方向判断と、その情報を使って眼球運動を行うときに働く脳内部位をPET計測によってマッピングした。まず、三上らは、平成8年度の研究成果を11月にニューオリンズで行われた北米神経科学会で発表するとともに、その後、スタンフォードに立ち寄って研究の進捗状況について打ち合わせを行った。つぎに、サルのPET計測の研究支援のため、ニューサムらが1月に来日し、共同実験を行うとともに、得られたデータについて意見交換を行った。さらに、2月に三上が渡米し、ヒトで同様の実験を行っているセント・ルイスのワシントン大学で、ヒトのデータとの比較のための意見交換を行った。ここではまた、ニューサムに参加してもらい、サルのPETデータの解析方法についても討議した。つぎに、チンパンジーのPET計測を行っているジョージア州立大学を訪れ、チンパンジーでのPET計測についても意見交換した。これらと平行してニューサムらは、PET計測のデータを参考に頭頂連合野からニューロン活動を記録し、運軌視との関連を解析した。本研究によって、日本側では、視覚ターゲットヘの眼球運動とターゲットなしの眼球運動で異なる脳部位の働くことを明らかにした。一方アメリカ側では、運軌視の方向判断に伴い頭頂連合野のニューロンの働くことを明らかにした。これらの成果は平成10年度の北米神経科学会で発表の予定である。本研究では、日本側とアメリカ側とが密接な情報交換のもとにお互いの成果をそれぞれの研究計画に生かしつつ効率的な研究を進めることができた。
