研究概要	本研究におけるいくつかのプロジェクトのうち、この報告書ではエコープレーナー(EPI)磁気共鳴画像技術の実用化について述べる。本年度の実績としては、次の二つがある。i)大脳中心後回における体性感覚信号処理。現在のところ、我々の装置はバックグラウンドの変動が2〜4%程あり、脳組織の磁化率変化を捕らえるぎりぎりのS/Nレベルである。まず初めに、各被験者に合わせた頭部用RFプローブを作製してS/N向上をはかっている。gradient echo型のシーケンスを用い、コントロール期のEPI画像の変動をもとに、刺激提示期のEPI画像のt-マップを作り、反応の有意性を検定した。その結果、下肢領域刺激により、大脳中心後回で大脳正中より5.4±0.9mmの部位に4.4±1.6%の活性化信号を計測した。同様に、上肢手指領域・顔面舌領域刺激により活性化信号を計測した。この結果は、従来脳外科手術時の侵襲条件下に、電気刺激で得られた体部位局在のデータとほぼ一致する。ii)大脳後部紡錘状回における色覚信号処理。この実験では、高磁場中で視覚刺激提示を行う必要がある為、通常のビデオディスプレイではなく、投射型液晶ディスプレイを用いた。コンピュータによって視覚刺激を生成し、直接液晶ディスプレイを駆動した。まず色刺激条件と、等輝度無彩色刺激条件を比較した。大脳後部紡錘状回に、色刺激条件で約5%の活性化が見出された。等輝度無彩色刺激条件における活性化の程度は、色刺激条件の約半分であった。さらに、単純色刺激条件と交互色刺激条件を比較した。前者では、平均41秒におよぶ色知覚残効が生じる。単純色刺激条件で色知覚残効が生じている期間に、大脳後部紡錘状回に有為な活性化が検出された。交互色刺激条件では有為な活性化は検出されなかった。この実験で色刺激条件下に特異的な活性化が検出された部位は、従来achromatopsia(皮質性色盲)の患者の責任病巣として知られている部位とほぼ一致する。
