半導体上におけるRu錯体の光触媒機能材料発現と人工光合成系の応用

研究概要

有機金属錯体は植物の光合成の光反応中心として、また生体内での酸素運搬担体としてなど生命現象の中で様々な重要な役割を果している。特に光合成は太陽エネルギーなど化学変換のモデルとして非常に注目されており、その光励起の中心化合物であるクロロフィルやその類似物質の光化合物、電気化学的特性の評価が盛んに行われている。その中でもRu錯体は励起状態の長寿命性や酸化還元能の強さなどから典型的な光合成モデル分子として特に注目されている。本研究では、このRu錯体の高い光エネルギーの化学変換触媒能に着目し、半導体微粒子とのハイブリッドによる高効率な光/化学エネルギー、光/電気エネルギー変換素子、光触媒の開発を目的として研究してきた。この目的を達成するために、分子レベルでの基礎的な光化学的、電気化学的特性の評価に加え、半導体との界面における電子移動機構、光電気化学的特性、光触媒作用など研究した。具体的には、新規な有機金属/半導体微粒子複合系の構築を行い、その基礎的な特性を十分に検討し、炭酸ガスの還元、光エネルギー変換触媒等への応用を試みた。下記に具体的な研究成果の内容を記す。
1.小分子の活性化によるCO_2の還元および固定化の実現
2.有機金属/半導体微粒子複合系による光エネルギー変換素子への開発
3.TiO_2半導体電極を用いて光電気化学系を構築し、この光エネルギー変換効率を向上させるために、Ru錯体をTiO_2上に化学修飾によってつけ、この光増感反応を調べ、実用化へ前進した結果を得た。
