研究概要

3d遷移金属酸化物およびカルコゲン化・有機物を対象に,モット転移とその近傍にある異常な金属状態について,集中的・包括的な研究を行った。
まず、フィリングとバンド幅を共に制御したペロブスカイト型Ti酸化物について、モット転移の臨界的挙動、特に量子臨界的近傍の金属相の特徴を電子比熱光スペクトル、光電子スペクトル、NMRの測定によって明らかにした。
また、巨大磁気抵抗効果を示すペロブスカイト型Mn酸化物については、ホール濃度の関数としてのスピンダイナミクス、格子構造、電子構造の変化の様子が詳しく調べられ、軌道整列状態や軌道自由度が関係すると考えられる金属相の異常が検出された。
Mn酸化物,Ni酸化物に共通して見られる電荷整列の相転移については、良質単結晶試料を用いた。輸送現象、分光、中性子散乱測定が進められ、スピンと電荷と軌道の各自由度の揺らぎ/秩序と物性の相関が詳しく議論され始めた。
一方、スピンラダー系での超伝導の発見によって最近関心を集めているスピンギャップを有するモット系、Cu、V、Co酸化物について、反強磁性との競合、ドープ状態でのスピン・電荷ダイナミクスなどの知見が良質試料を用いて得らた。
