研究概要

本研究は平成7-10年度に行われた特定領域研究(A)「細胞核の機能構造:分子構築と分子間コミュニケーション」(研究領域番号:359)の成果取りまとめを主たる目的としたものであるが、本特定領域のその後の研究推進の方策の検討、ならびに本特定領域の研究のうち緊急に支援を要する研究に対しての一部の研究費補助を行なった。4年間に本領域の研究を振り返って、細胞核の総合的な研究というこれまでにない目標設定のもとで、主として分裂酵母、出芽酵母、動物細胞を対象として、分子生物学、分子遺伝学、生化学、そして核内の分子複合体を可視化して観察する最新の細胞生物学の手法を駆使して、大変活発に研究が展開し、現在急速に進展している世界のこの領域の研究の中でも重要な研究成果が多数得られた。研究成果報告書(332ページ)をまとめるにあたり、計画研究班の班員と平成10年度公募研究班員を中心に38名に本研究で得られた主要な成果と関連する世界の研究の現状についてそれぞれ総説的にまとめてもらった。本報告書は細胞核の機能構造研究の現状を理解するために極めて有用であり、本研究班員のみならず、この領域に関係する研究者に広く活用してもらいたいものである。本領域のうち、染色体機能関係の研究は「染色体機能装置のダイナミクスとアルゴリズム」(研究代表者:吉川 寛)、核-細胞質間の分子輸送関係の研究は「細胞内情報ネットワークの基盤となる核-細胞質間分子輸送」(研究代表者:米田悦啓)としてそれぞれ平成11年度発足特定領域研究(B)として新たなる組織の下に研究がスタートした。残るクロマチン関係の研究は「クロマチンと転写制御」(研究代表者:広瀬 進)として平成12年度特定領域研究(B)に申請中である。
