研究概要	水野はニワトリのクロモボックスタンパクCHCB1のcDNAクローニングと繊維芽細胞での発現を行い、Wヘテロクロマチンの凝縮にそのN末部位とクロモボックス部位が関与することを示した。また、ニワトリの高分子核マトリクスタンパク質HMNA中の2種のモノクローナル抗体エピトープ部位の一つが細胞周期のS期に抗体との反応性を失うことを見いだし、DNA複製への関与を示唆した。石川はラットのテロメレース複合体の成分であるTLP1をクローニングし、さらに触媒サブユニットと考えられるヒトのhTERTのクローニングにも成功した。hTERTは逆転写酵素に保存された配列を含み、その発現レベルが細胞のテロメレース活性レベルとよく相関すること、テロメレースの鋳型RNA成分とhTERTの複合体が強いテロメレース活性をもつことを示した。丹羽は分裂酵母kms1突然変異体が減数分裂前期におけるスピンドル極体(SPB)の構造維持と染色体テロメアの集合に異常を示すことを見いだし、このタンパク質の遺伝子クローニングと抗体作製を行った。その結果、KMS1タンパク質が核膜上にあるSPBの構成成分であり減数分裂時に特異的に修飾を受けることを明らかにした。平岡は分裂酵母のGFP融合ゲノムライブラリーを作製し、細胞内の特異的な構造に局在する約800種類のクローンを選別し、遺伝子産物の細胞内局在画像カタログとして利用できることを示した。堀田はユリ花粉母細胞の減数分裂対合期のcDNAライブラリーから約500クローンの塩基配列を決定し、減数分裂に関与する新規の遺伝を検索した。舛本はCENP-Bボックスを含むヒトのアルフォイドDNAとヒトのテロメアを組み込んだYACクローンがヒト培養細胞中で人工染色体として安定に分配維持されることを示し、CENP-Bボックスへのセントロメアタンパク質の集合がセントロメア機能に必須であることを示唆した。
