研究概要

実験データ解析は、自然科学はもとより社会科学を含む科学の全ての諸分野で行われる統計的解析の主要な部分を担っている。各分野の第一線の研究者の協力により、彼ら本来の研究側面からこれらの新しい手法の数理的基礎の研究を行い、データ解析学の研究に新しい局面を切り開くことが出来た。具体的には、次の研究課題(分担者)について全国的な研究集会をもち、成果を得た。特に、各分担者は互いに協力して問題点を整理・分類・研究を実施し、さらに、分担外の数理統計学者・数学者と議論するために、何回かの研究会をもち研究連絡、情報交換を行った。
1.「実験計画法の数理的基礎とその応用」(白倉暉弘・〓田正秀・兵頭義史):実験計画法の中に、配置の理論やその最適性、それらに基づいた計画の構成と分類等多くの重要な問題が存在する。ここではそれらの問題の解決及び進展を目指し、関連した研究発表が7件あり、応用面からも種々の配置から生じた実践的なデータ解析法に関するもの2件、更には実験計画法のもつ組合せ論的性質を接点にした、群論、グラフ理論、符号理論といった関連領域から5件の研究発表に対して、活発な質疑応答がなされ、グラフ理論、デザイン理論の研究者、符号理論、暗号理論の研究者の多くの参加が得られたのが特徴でもあった。
2.「地球・環境科学における統計モデルとその応用」(間瀬茂・西井龍映・清水邦夫):地球・環境科学で扱われるデータは、その実際的重要性とともに、規模の大きさ・データの大量さ等の点で統計学にとり新しい魅力である問題を数多く提起する。本研究集会では、一部専門家を交え、幅広い観点からの報告と情報交換を行った。具体的にはリモートセンシング等の観測衛生によるデータ、気象データ、地震データ等に関する統計的手法の発表があった。またそれ以外のより広い視点から地球・環境科学関連をもつ理論と応用に関する研究知見が発表され質疑討論がされた。
3.「医学・生物学データの統計モデル:理論と応用」(大瀧慈・折笠秀樹・宮原英夫):臨床試験データ、疫学研究データ、毒性データ、薬理・動態データ、成長曲線データ、用量反応データ、人口動態データなどの解析について理論的ないし実証的研究を行った。特に、独創的な新しいモデルの提案や現実のデータ解析に基づいた興味ある実証的研究報告・討論が行われ、21世紀に向けた研究の展開の指標を得た。
