研究概要

林木個体間の相互作用によって制御される林木集団(林分)の発達過程の研究を,野外データの分析と理論解析の両面から進めた.
(1)野外データの解析:北海道のダケカンバ林の発達過程を北海道道林業試験場の長期試験区のモニタリング・データに基づいて分析した(菊沢・原).同様の解析を屋久島の照葉樹林のデータでも行った(甲山).特に直径-樹高関係が地球変化に伴ってシフトしている可能性の検証に注目した.
(2)超小型CCDカメラを用いた樹冠内の非破壊的な葉量密度分布分析方法を開発して発表した.また,協力研究者の竹中明夫(国立環境研)と共同で,精密な個々の葉の3次元分布の測定法を確立した(大沢).
(3)植物集団動態の一次元サイズ頻度分布の移流拡散モデルを,樹高と幹直径の2サイズ・ディメンション分布の動態モデルに展開して,モデル集団における樹冠と林冠の発達のシミュレーションを行った(原).
(4)樹木集団の空間分布過程を現わす格子モデルを,従来の一層のモデルから,林冠木集団と下層木集団からなる2層モデルに展開し,2種系の安定共存条件について分析を進めた(佐藤・甲山).多層構造が多種系をより安定させる効果を持つことがわかってきた.
(5)本研究課題のシンポジウムを1995年8月の第42回日本生態学会大会(盛岡)で主催し,関連するシンポジウムとともに,メンバーの甲山・菊沢・大沢が講演した.
