研究概要	植物細胞の増殖と成長の機構を知ることは植物細胞の特性を知る上で最も基本的な理解であるが、これまでその特性が理解が良くなされているとは言い難い。ところが提案したタバコBY-2株は、これまでの研究で植物細胞としては最も増殖が早く、細胞周期の同調化が可能な唯一の系として研究が進められており、この基本的特性の理解には最適の系といえる。そこで、我が国でこの材料を用いている主要研究者を網羅して研究グループを組織した。今年度の成果としては、成長因子としてのオーキシンの分子レベルでの作用機構に関して、オーキシン制御の遺伝子arcAが、タンパク質キナーゼCと結合すること、また、細胞膜のK^+イオンチャンネルのβ-サブユニットとタンパク質タンパク質相互作用をすることが酵母の二ハイブリッドシステムで示された。また、細胞分裂に関わって種々の機能を示すタンパク質であるキネシンが複数同定された。更に、植物では最も優れたインビトロ翻訳系が確立された。なお、微小管の構築と細胞膜との相互作用に関しては、それぞれ機能に関していると予想されるタンパク質が同定され、証明はなお残っているが一定の進歩が達成された。これらの成果を他の研究者にも伝えることは本組織の役割と考え、平成7年10月に日本植物学会の折にシンポジウムを組織したが、この組織外の参加者よりも大変有意義であったという意見をいただいた。従って、この努力は今後も続けたい。
