研究概要	植物細胞の増殖機構を知ることは植物の特性を知る上で不可欠であるが、これまでその特性が理解が良くなされているとは言い難い。提案したタバコBY-2株は、これまでの研究で植物細胞としては最も増殖が早く、細胞周期の同調化が可能な唯一の系として研究が進められており、この基本的特性の理解には最適の系といえる。既に、世界20カ国以上で広範に用いられつつあるが、本研究では、我が国でこの材料を用いている主要研究者を網羅して研究グループを組織した。今年度の成果としては、成長因子としてのオーキシンの分子レベルでの作用機構に関して、オーキシン制御の遺伝子arcAが、細胞膜のK^+イオンチャンネルのβ-サブユニットとタンパク質タンパク質相互作用をすることが酵母の二ハイブリッドシステムで示され、植物細胞分裂の制御に関する全く新しい可能性が示唆された。また、細胞分裂に関わって種々の機能を示すタンパク質であるキネシンが複数同定され、その細胞周期の進行過程での動態が明らかにされた。また、微小管の構築と細胞膜との相互作用に関しては、それぞれ機能に関していると予想されるタンパク質が同定され、65kDaタンパク質とEF-1αに関してその機能が調べられた。更に、植物では最も優れた多面的に利用可能なインビトロ翻訳系が確立され、細胞小器官の動態についても基本的な知見が得られた。この研究は本年度で終了するが、班員の研究活動は論文発表が活発であるとともに、実験系自体にも興味を持たれているので、国際的にも注目を集め、これらの成果を通じてこの細胞系の世界への一層の拡散を促進されることになった。
