研究概要

2度のシンポジウムを開き、研究代表者および研究分担者がそれぞれ行っている地球環境保全のための新材料に関する研究ならびに調査結果について、情報交換および討論を行った。
1.Co_2リサイクルについて:大規模なCo_2のCH_4への変換にはアモルファスNi-Zr合金を前駆体とする触媒の性能を検討した結果、メタンへの転換率が90%以上になることがわかった。反応生成物であるメタンと水を分離した後に2段目の反応管を通すことにより、さらに転換率を向上させることができた。海水電解による大規模な水素生成にはスパッター法で作製したNi-Mo合金水素電極が優れており、その活性は白金に匹敵することを見出した。これに高温濃厚アルカリ浸漬処理を施して表面からMoを侵出させるとともに有効面積を増大させると更に高活性の水素電極となった。一方、塩素を発生せずに酸素を発生し、耐久性があり、しかも貴金属を使用しない電極としてMn酸化物にMoやWを添加した複酸化物電極を作製した結果、それらの酸素発生効率が90%以上に達した。
2.NOxの分解について:ディーゼル排ガス中のNOとパティキュレートの同時除去が可能であり、触媒を利用した研究が進行しつつある。NOのN_2とO_2への直接分解のためにはアモルファスNiバルブメタル合金を前駆体とする触媒の性能を調べた。その結果、アモルファスNi-Ta-Pd合金を前駆体とした触媒が極めて高い活性を500-900°Cの広い温度範囲で示した。これはこのアモルファス合金が反応環境中で微細なNiTa_2O_6に金属Pdを微細に担持した触媒に変わるためである。また、他のバルブメタルを含む合金とは違い、Taを含む合金はHF浸漬処理を施さなくても高い活性を示すことがわかった。
3.フロン分解について:アモルファスNi-Zr合金を前駆体として用いた触媒はフロン(CFC-12)の加水分解反応に対して高い活性を示した。これに少量のWを添加すると耐久性が向上し、触媒が分解するフロンの量は添加しない場合に比べ3倍以上に増大した。活性を主に担うのはZrF_4であることが明らかになった。
4.耐環境材料:Mo-バルブメタル合金およびW-バルブメタル合金は濃厚塩酸中でも高耐食性を示し、またそれぞれの構成元素より耐食性が高いことがわかった。Ni-Ta-PおよびFe-Cr-P合金の濃厚酸中の高い耐食性に対するPの役割を明らかにした。
