研究概要	2次元の動画像をそのまま2次元画像情報として取扱い、入出力画像間で複雑の演算処理をリアルタイムで実行できる小規模の画像処理システムを製作した。このシステムは、イメージセンサと液晶表示素子を一体化したセル(スマートピクセル)を2次元状に配置したパネルから成る入出力層と、画像演算処理を行うための簡易的な画像プロセッサをアレイ状に配置したプロセッサ層を積層化した構成となっている。まず、スマートピクセルをアレイ状に並べた小規模のパネルを製作し、基本特性を評価した。ガラスSOIウェハを用いてCMOS画像処理プロセッサ回路を設計・製作し、基本特性を評価した。これらの要素技術を基に、リアルタイム処理が可能な小規模の画像処理システムを設計・製作し、基本動作を確認した。本画像処理システムを用いて高速移動物体を検出および追跡する新しい画像処理手法を確立した。
