研究概要	平成8年度は日本海でしばしば赤潮を発生するラフィド藻Heterosigma akashiwoと渦鞭毛藻Gymnodinium mikimotoiに対して殺藻作用を有する海洋細菌とウイルスの分離と検索をおこなった。夏季に広島湾で発生したH.akashiwo赤潮において、その消滅期に本藻を劇的に殺滅する活性をもった細菌が増加することを確認した。この細菌を分離してその16SrDNAをPCR増幅するとともにそのRFLP解析(制限酵素断片長多型解析)や塩基配列を決定することにより、それらが数個のグループとして分類分けできることを確認した。さらに、この遺伝子の特異的な部分をプローブとすることにより現場での細菌を検出する可能性を示した。また、田辺湾からはG.mikimotoiを殺藻する能力をもった細菌が得られているが、これらの細菌は菌体外に殺藻物質を分泌していること、その物質はタンパク質であることを確認した。これらの物質は、単離すると種々の赤潮原因微細藻類を溶藻する活性があることも明らかにした。 H.akashiwo赤潮の消滅期に、その細胞内にフィルス状の粒子が存在することは以前から観察してきたが、今回この粒子が感染能力をもっていることをはじめて明らかにした。渦鞭毛藻Alexandrium tamarenseやG.mikimotoiによって産生され麻痺性貝毒(サキシトキシンなど)を分解する活性を有した細菌を数株分離することができた。
