研究概要

溶液X線回折法を用いて高温、高圧の水の構造を解析した。新しいタイプの高温、高圧用X線回折装置を作成し、ベリリウム・セルを用いて常温において0.1-200MPaの範囲並びに100℃において0.1-50MPaの範囲における水分子間距離並びに水分子の平均配位数の温度、圧力依存性を検討した。その結果、このような条件下においては、水分子間距離ならびに配位数は近似的に密度のみの関数として表わされることが示された。
また塩化マグネシウム水溶液についても高温、高圧条件下での測定を開始した。
水溶液中のクロロアセトンおよび1,2-ジクロロエタン分子のコンフォーメーション平衡のおよぼす圧力効果についてラマン分光法を用いて研究を行った。いずれの分子においても溶媒を無極性溶媒から水に変えたとき、とり電気的モーメントが大きなコンフォーメーション(synおよびgauche)をとりやすくなることが観測された。また圧力効果(クロロアセトン)および温度効果(クロロアセトンおよび1,2-ジクロロエタン)の測定から、コンフォーメーション変化に伴う体積変化およびエンタルピー変化を見積もった。現在、溶媒を誘電連続体とみなした場合についてモデル計算の結果と実験結果を比較し、考察を進めている。
溶解度測定の研究においては、従来から使用してきた高圧溶解度測定装置に内部セルを導入することにより、測定制度が±4%から±0.4%へと飛躍的に向上した。その結果、これまで熱力学的立場から塩化セシウムの水への溶解度は圧力とともに減少するが、その傾向は上に凸の曲線で表わされると推定されていたが、今回の測定では逆に下に凸の曲線で表わされることが明らかになり、これまでの推定結果を修正し、新しい知見を得ることができた。
