研究概要	ラン基と葉緑体のRNA結合蛋白質の機能に関する研究を行った。本研究で得られた主な成果は次の通りである。 1.シロイヌナズナの葉緑体RNA結合蛋白質(RNP)遺伝子の構造解析を行い、葉緑体RNPが系統的に3つのグループに分類できることを初めて明らかにした。 2.タバコの葉緑体RNPの大部分は可溶性画分(非ポリソーム画分)に存在し、種々のmRNA、16SrRNAやイントロンをもつ前駆体tRNA分子に結合して、RNA-RNP蛋白質複合体を形成していることを明らかにした。葉緑体RNPは葉緑体RNA分子の安定性やRNAプロッセングに関与している可能性を示した。 3.ラン藻Synechococcus PCC 6301のRNA結合蛋白質である12RNP1と12RNP2の機能を明らかにするため、Synechococcus PCC 7942株を用いて遺伝子破壊実験を行った。その結果、12RNP1遺伝子破壊により細胞は致死的となるが、12RNP2破壊株は野性株と同じ増殖速度で増えた。細胞増殖の定常期、または細胞を低温にさらすことにより、12RNP1mRNA量が10倍程度増加することを見い出した。一方、12RNP2遺伝子は細胞の増殖時期に関わらず定常レベルの発現が観察された。低温ストレスに対する応答性も見い出されなかった。以上の結果は、12RNP1と12RNP2の機能が明確に異なることを示している。
