包晶反応を用いた新しい結晶育成法の開発

研究概要	溶液反応結晶成長法の一種である包晶反応を利用した新しい方法により分解溶融型化合物の単結晶を作成し、組成、構造、物性の関係を明らかにした。物質としては極端な異方性を示すと考えられる低次元系酸化物、すなわち酸化物超伝導体、低次元磁性体、低次元伝導体、鎖状珪酸塩などを取りあげた。研究の結果は以下通りである。1)タリウム系超伝導体単結晶の育成に成功し、構造変化とTcとの関係を明らかにした。2)新しい超伝導化合物Tl_2Ba_5Cu_4O_xを発見し、単結晶により構造、物性を明らかにした。3)その場観察のできる時間分割高温X線粉末解析装置を開発し、1000℃までのビスマス系超伝導体の相関係を決定した。またイットリウム系超伝導体の結晶成長における包晶反応の速度論的解析を行った。5)良質・大形のイットリウム系超伝導体単結晶の育成と双晶の除去に成功し、磁気ピン止め効果を評価した。また、各主軸方向の異方的物性を独立して決定した。6)一次元物質SrCuO_2の良質結晶の育成に成功し、その精密結晶、磁気構造を解析した。7)良質針状のY_2Cu_2O_5結晶も同様の包晶反応を利用した方法で育成し、物性を測定した。8)二次元三角格子磁性体CuFeO_2の相関係を調べ、自己フラックスによる大形良質単結晶を育成し、組成、構造、帯磁率と育成雰囲気条件ととの関係を調べた。9)低次元金属伝導体PdCoO_2結晶を封管内での複分解法で得、異方的特性を明らかにした。10)トップ・シ-ド溶液成長法を改良し、鎖状構造マグネシウム輝石の大形良質結晶の育成を行った。以上の実験の他も含めた総合的な研究成果から、熱分解を伴うような高温で不安定な物質の単結晶合成には、包晶反応など化学反応を利用した結晶育成法の優れていることが判明した。今後はさらに育成例を増やすと同時に、成長機構のさらなる究明が課題といえよう。
