研究概要	胎児・新生児の脳組織を用いて、正常発達および異常の発生病理について検討した。正常脳では、heat shock protein 73, epidermal growth factorを免疫組織科学的に、プリン合成酵素(GART, GARS)やd-serineを生化学的に発達的に観察し、異常発達研究の基礎とした。新生児の脳室周囲白質軟化では、発生機序について血管とグリアの発達が成因に関与することをリビューし、アミロイド前駆体蛋白の免疫組織化学的染色で軟化巣の軸索変性が証明され、軟化巣が容易に早期診断されるようになった。白質軟化は小脳半球にも発見され、新知見として報告した。Pontosubicular neuron necrosisでは、在胎30週以上の新生児では核崩壊は橋核と海馬支脚に限局するが、超未熟児ではそれ以外の部位にも認められ、より広範に発生していた。この疾患では、ferritinやapolipoprotein Eがグリアや神経細胞に一時的に増加し、細胞の抵抗性あるいは修復を反映していると考えられた。新生児頭蓋内出血後水頭症の発生機序について検討し、予防対策を考えた。ペルオキソーム病、福山型先天性筋ジストロフィー、ダウン症候群、滑脳症、レックリング・ハウゼン病などの疾患についても、保存資料は免疫組織化学的、生化学的および遺伝生物学的な研究に利用された。
