研究概要

応力状態を変えた衝撃負荷手段としてシャルピー(三点曲げ)衝撃試験(モードI負荷)とパンクチャー衝撃試験(モードI+II+III)をとり上げた。この両負荷試験での次の各種高分子材料の衝撃強度の評価を行い、両方法による強度の違いについて検討した。すなわち、材料として、HIPS、PPE、PBT、PBT/PPE(ブレンド)、PA6、PA6/EPR、PA6/PPE/SBS、PA6/PPE/SBS/EPRをとり上げた。衝撃強度の評価には計装化衝撃試験機が用いられた。この負荷(F)-変位(δ)曲線から衝撃エネルギーEを得た。
さらに、両種試験で得られたE値から、E_<3pb>、E_<pun>を次のように定義した。E_<3pb>=E/(B・a_e)(三点曲げ)、E_<pun>=E/B(パンクチャー)。ここでBは試験片厚さ(2及び3mm)、a_eはリガメント部の長さである。
上記9種のプラスチックに対して、三点曲げ試片は厚さ4mm(一部3mm)、パンクチャー試片は厚さ3mmと2mmを用意し、E_<3pb>とE_<pun>の相関関係を調べた結果、次のように整理出来ることがわかった。
(1)HIPSとPPEは原点付近の低い値を示す。
(2)9種のプラスチックは3つにクラス分け出来る:(i)PBTおよびPA6(ii)PBT/PPE、PPE/SBS、PA6/PPE/SBS(iii)PA6/PPE/SBS/EPR、PA6/EPR。ここで(i)(ii)(iii)の順でノッチ付衝撃強度が相対的に強くなる傾向を持っている。すなわち、(i)は一軸下の応力集中に対して弱く、(iii)は一軸及び三軸下の応力に対して共に強いことがわかった。
パンクチャーテストの試片の厚さの効果は2〜3mmの範囲では顕著ではない。
イメージインテンシファイア-カメラにより高速度撮影を行い、F-δ曲線と変形・破壊挙動の関係を明らかにすることが出来た。
