研究概要	行列Aに対し、Aと単位ベクトルxからつくられるエルミット形式のつくる値域(x^tAx:\|\|x\|\|=1)をAの数域と呼ぶが、これは複素平面上のコンパクト凸集合をつくっている。この数域の特性はスペクトルなどと共に行列の特徴を捉える上で重要さを増している。我々はこの一年間、数域の拡張であるc-数域、C-数域、q-数域について数多くの成果を得た。拡大数域も複素平面上のコンパクト単連結領域になるため、その特徴はその境界(閉曲線)に現れる。成果の例:1.c-数域の境界の滑らかでない点(non differential point)は必ずその近傍で扇形の要のような角をつくっている。2.滑らかな点であっても、その滑らかさの度合にはそれぞれの階級k-regular point)がある。3.境界曲線は高々有限個の点を除いて全ての点で十分滑らか(∞-regular)である。4.対角行列のq-数域は3次元の行列のq-数域の和に帰着させることが出来る。5.ある種の対角行列のq-数域の境界は、それぞれ特別ないくつかの代数弧の和になる。c-数域の境界曲線が代数曲線方程式で表されることを示し、実際に3行3列の行列の場合にマセマテカが描かせて、行列と境界曲線との関係を明らかにすることが出来た。その外、ここに書ききれない複雑な結果のいくつかが得られている。以上の結果は論文で発表したもの、投稿中のものなどであるが、高口と中里は、京都大学数理解析研究所の短期共同研究“ヒルベルト空間上の有界線形作用素の数域と数域半径"(95年6月12日-16日)で、それぞれ「行列の数域の境界について」、「C-数域のユニタリ不変式」を報告している。更に、96年8月6日-9日に札幌で開かれる国際研究集会“3rd workshop on Numerical Ranges and Numerical Radii"で高口と中里の報告がそれぞれ予定されている。
