研究概要	本年度は、各研究項目について開発研究を推進した。また、初期宇宙の理解に直結する重要な科学的成果が得られた。以下に各項目の研究成果を示す。 1.軟X線および硬X線を用いた深宇宙探査硬X線検出器の試作品が、ASTRO・E衛星プロトモデル試験に供出された。その結果にもとづき、検出器部と電子回路部のフライト品の設計がほぼ固まり、また支援ソフトウェアも整備されつつある。「あすか」を用いた観測的研究では、ミリ秒パルサーからの非熱的パルスの検出、楕円銀河における暗黒物質の階層構造の発見などの新発見が相次ぎ、宇宙X線背景放射のスペクトルや銀河団の重元素量が詳しく測定された。またBLAZAR天体の統一モデルの構築、銀河面X線放射の正体の究明などが行われ、宇宙の高エネルギー現象の理解が飛躍的に進んだ。 2.活動銀河の多波長モニター観測による宇宙論平成9年度でのMAGNUM天文台の設置に向けて、鏡筒の製作を行った。また、次年度以降に製作の予定される、架台、制御構造、観測スケジューリングなどの諸問題についての検討を行った。昨年に引続きMAGNUM天体の選択のための観測を、宇宙研1.3m望遠鏡、木曽シュミット望遠鏡を用いて行った。 3.遠方銀河サーベイデータの解析による観測的宇宙論可視光域での天体カタログ作成のために、画像データから天体を自動検出し、その位置、明るさ、形状を測定し、データベースを作成するソフトウエアの性能テストを進めた。完成したデータベースを用いて可能になる宇宙論研究のテーマの絞りこみと、既存の観測装置を用いた準備的な研究を行った。 4.サブミリ波望遠鏡による中性炭素原子の銀河広域観測富士山頂サブミリ波望遠鏡のための口径1.2m高精度アンテナ主鏡とアンテナを風雪から守るためのレドームを製作した。また、国立天文台と共同で超伝導受信機システムを開発した。現有の18cm可搬型サブミリ波望遠鏡をもちいて、チリや富士山頂において試験観測を行った。 5.粒子線観測による宇宙初期・素粒子現象の探求平成7年に取得したデータの解析を引き続き行い、宇宙線反陽子の存在を確立するとともに、低エネルギー領域の流束を初めて測定した。また、反物質の探索を行い、これまでの約40倍厳しい上限を設定した。また、粒子識別能力を向上させるための、飛行時間測定用ホドスコープ、エアロジェルチェレンコフカウンタの開発を行った。 6.高感度ボロメーターによる暗黒物質の直接検出 20gのLiF結晶による暗黒物質直接検出用極低温検出器により、地上の実験室において試験的測定を行ないスピンに依存した相互作用をする暗黒物質候補に対して一定の制限をつけた。さらに8個の結晶により極低温検出器が一体化され全体で160gの検出器が完成した。太陽axion検出用超伝導電磁石と追尾用架台が完成した。 7.数値シュミレーションによる初期宇宙の探求 [天体核]:超新星起源の背景ニュートリノ輻射の、スーパー神岡実験でのイベント数の予測計算や超新星内部での磁気モーメントによるニュートリノ振動についての計算を行った。中性子星のスピンダウンに伴うクラスト物質の圧力変化と組成変化などを調べた。[観測的宇宙論]:高赤方偏移にある銀河・クェーサーの分布から、宇宙定数を推定する新しい方法を提唱した。また、X線銀河団の温度関数やLog N-Log Sに関する定式化を行い、冷たい暗黒物質モデルにおける密度パラメータの値とゆらぎ振幅の間の関係式を導いた。[初期宇宙]:電弱相転移における熱的揺らぎの振幅を量子統計の範疇で評価を行った。また、環境系が量子トンネルに与える影響を量子ポテンシャル法を用いて考察した。その他に、時空の漸近構造を特定せずに準局所エネルギーの定義を行った。[初期天体の化学力学進化と元素合成過程の探求]:1)Ia型超新星の親星系、核反応燃焼波の不安定性の条件に関する新知見を得、光度曲線の本格的計算コードの開発に成功した。2)楕円銀河を取り巻く高温ガスの起源とその熱的性質に関する新知見を得た。3)GRAPEを用いた星ガス系のSPHシミュレーションを行ない、矮小銀河の化学力学的特徴の説明に成功した。
