研究概要

国内では計6回の研究会を開催し理論的諸問題の検討、資料の分析、質問票の検討をおこなった。アジア系民族集団に関するデータベースの作成も進めた。
アメリカ合衆国における現地調査は、1998年7-9月の第1次調査と、1998年12月の第2次調査に分けて行った。1998年7-9月の調査では小野澤、山本(泰)、中野、油井、ベフ、タカキ、ウオン、ユー、イチオカ、ホフマン、オカムラにより、サンフランシスコとロサンゼルスの両市で各分担民族集団に関して行われた。昨年に引続き複数の民族間の境界と連帯関係を中心に分析を進めた。第2次調査は小野澤、吉原、原尻、三吉、タカキ、ウオン、ユー、イチオカ、ホフマン、オカムラによってロサンゼルス周辺の諸都市における民族間関係に焦点を移しつつ進められた。2次調査の期間中に行われたアメリカ人類学会の分科会で小野澤、吉原、原尻、ホフマンが調査を踏まえた発表を行った。いずれも、現地側分担者(サンフランシスコ地域におけるウオン氏、タカキ氏、ロサンゼルス地区におけるユー氏、イチオカ氏)の全面的な協力の下に極めてスムースに遂行できた。1999年3月にはタカキ氏、ウオン氏、イチオカ氏、オカムラ氏を日本に招聘し、日本側分担者と共に集中的な総括研究会を持ち、アメリカ側分担者のデータ分析結果の報告を受けると共に、理論的諸問題の検討を深めることができた。本プロジェクト構成員による研究成果の公表は添付資料のように多様な形で行われているが、1998年12月のアメリカ人類学会分科会における発表に続き、いくつかの国際学会における発表と調査報告書の刊行を予定している。
