研究概要

太陽・惑星間空間・地球の結合系で起こる大規模な磁場エネルギー解放の諸現象では、非熱的粒子群が観測される。それらの衛星観測データ、地上観測データの解析、計算機シミュレーションを介して、エネルギー解放メカニズムや、粒子の加熱・加速・伝播の物理過程の研究を発展させた。
1.GEOTAILとWINDの重粒子検出器により、静穏期における3〜150MeV/nの宇宙線強度解析の結果、宇宙線異常成分He,C,N,O,Ne,S,Arの増加を観測した。第一電離ポテンシャル10.4eVの硫黄成分を世界で最初に検出した。局所星間空間における粒子のFIP依存性に関する理解を更に明らかにした。
2.太陽共回転相互作用領域CIRの形成過程のプラズマ条件、CIRイオン強度の増加量、銀河宇宙線強度の減少量、との関係が明らかになってきた。また、回帰的なCIRが外太陽圏に伝播する間にCIRが融合し、MIRを形成して長期間MIR存在する事で、宇宙線強度が長期間減少する事が明らかになった。
3.太陽フレア-での爆発的高エネルギー現象が、磁場の高速再結合機構により成長して蓄積された磁場エネルギーを一気に解放する。これによりフレア-現象が良く説明できる事を示した。更に、MHDシミュレーションで得られる電磁場データから、粒子軌道の計算をして粒子の加速機構について研究を進める。
4.地球磁気圏尾部での低温粒子の加熱機構として、スローショック前面のフォアショックでの粒子の電磁サイクロトロン波との相互作用を提案した。磁気圏尾部で存在する3種類の粒子(H+,He++,O+)の共存から、太陽風の磁気圏尾部への寄与の重大さを示し、O+とプロトンの起源機構の違いを示した。
