研究概要

わが国の太陽観測衛星「ようこう」による太陽コロナのX線観測と、中国側の優れた光学観測・磁場観測データの組み合わせにより、フレア爆発のメカニズムを研究することを目的とした。平成8年10月13日〜10月23日の間、研究代表者・桜井は北京及び南京を訪問し、中国側研究者との研究討論を行い、太陽観測施設を視察したほか、将来の太陽観測装置の動向についても議論した。
中国側からは4名の研究者を招聘した。Zhang Hongqi教授(北京天文台)は来日中、磁場と太陽フレアの関係についての研究を行った。1992年2月に現れた活動領域NOAA7070について、この領域が東側の縁にあったときに起こったフレア(リムフレア)と、領域が太陽の前面に出てきた後で起こったフレア(ディスクフレア)の比較から、フレアのX線源の3次元構造について考察した。
Fang Cheng教授(南京大学)は、活動領域NOAA7722の1994年5月16〜19日の観測データ(X線、磁場、Hα)を総合して、比較的穏やかなこの領域のコロナループの物理量とコロナ加熱の関係について考察した。
Tang Yuhua助教授(南京大学)は、太陽フィラメントの不安定性に関して、「ようこう」のX線データ、Hα観測、磁場観測を総合して、不安定化の条件について研究を行った。
Wang Huaning博士(北京天文台)は、X線画像に見られるコロナループは太さがほぼ一定であるのに対して、磁力線の形は高さと共に広がるはずであるという一見矛盾した事実に注目した。磁場の管の太さは見る方向によって異なるので、計算された磁力線の形から磁束管の太さを計算する手法をまず確立し、次に簡単な解析的モデルを用いて考察を行った。
