機能性単分子層の自己組織化と電気化学走査プローブ顕微鏡による超構造制御

研究概要

固体表面への自己組織化法による機能性分子超構造の構築と走査プローブ顕微鏡探針による超構造の操作を目的に研究を行っている。本年度は走査型トンネル顕微鏡(STM)による自己組織化過程のその場追跡と新規自己組織化単分子層における高効率光誘起電子移動の実現に成功した。具体的に前者については、ウンデカンチールのペプタン溶液について、修飾溶液の濃度を制御する事によってAu(111)上への自己組織化過程をSTMでその場追跡した。その結果、自己組織化が1.表面液体相、2.筋状および網状構造をへて、3.最密充填構造(√<3>×√<3>R30°)へと進む事が明かになった。これは世界で初めての成果である。
後者については、光感応性のポルフィリン基、電子伝達体として機能するフェロセン基及び電極結合能を持つチオール基をアルキル鎖を介して連結した分子の合成手法を確立し、ついで、この分子で修飾した電極を電子受容体としてメチルビオローゲン(MV^<++>)を含む溶液中で光照射するとフェロセン基の酸化還元電位より負電位側でカソード光電流が観察されることを見出した。光電流アクションスペクトルは単分子層の吸収スペクトルと一致し、ポルフィリン基が光励起種として機能している事を確認した。なお、この時量子収率は10%以上であり、世界最高の値である。
