研究概要	本総括班は2つの計画班と48件の公募研究班の研究連絡・調整、ならびに研究に対する助言・指導等を行なう一方で、本特定領域研究の活動を主宰した。本年度は総括班会議を2回(7月、12月)開催し、本研究領域の推進について全体的な協議を行なった。特に最終年度のあたる本年度は、これまでの研究の総括や来年度に予定される研究の成果取りまとめを検討し、来年度以降の本研究領域の研究継続法等についても合わせて協議した。実務的な活動はワーキンググループ(委員6名)を設置して計画・実行した。主な活動は以下の通り。(1)ニュースレター「ぷろておりしす」の発行:班員相互の連絡、研究情報等の交換の場としてニュースレターを3回発行し、班員はもとより関係領域研究者約400名に配布した。(2)ワークショップの開催。平成11年7月14-16日、定山渓で開催し、120名が参加した。4題の特別講演、ミニシンポジウム、ポスター発表、および新班員の研究紹介を行なった。(3)第4回公開シンポジウム「シグナル伝達とプロテオリシス」(平成11年12月20日(月)、場所:東京ガーデンパレス)を行ない、班員外を含む7名が講演した。シンポジウムには200名以上の多数が参加した。(4)研究成果報告会(平成11年12月21,22日、場所:東京ガーデンパレス)を行ない、班員が本年度の研究成果を報告・討論した。(5)若手シンポジウム(平成12年2月21日、場所:フォレスト本郷)を行ない、東京近辺の大学院学生、若手研究者を中心に約50名が集まり、村上和雄筑波大学名誉教授の特別講演を含む11題の報告に対し、実際の研究を担当する若手研究者が実験的な詳細を含め、活発な討論を行なった。
