研究概要	本計画は、2年度目に実施する観測航海の実施を最重要課題としている。そのため初年度にあたる今年度は、2年度目の観測航海の準備研究を以下のように行った。 (1)GPSを使用した新型ジャイロを購入し船上三成分磁力計に組みこんだ。本改良により、三成分磁力計システムの観測精度を向上させるもとができるものと期待される。 (2)深海プロトン磁力計のバッテリ-システム、深度計測システムを改良し、従来12時間であった連続観測時間を24時間に延長することに成功した。改良型深海プロトン磁力計は、来年度南西インド洋海嶺の観測で使用する予定のフランスの極地観測船を使用して南インド洋で実施に使用しその有効性を確認した。この観測にかかわる費用は、フランスパリ大学からの招へい費用でまかなわれた。 (3)南西インド洋海嶺の既存の地球物理データをコンパイルし同海嶺の拡大テクトニクスに関する基礎的研究を行った。この結果を基に、現在来年度の観測航海の具体的観測計画を立案中である。
