研究概要	ヒトの適応における疾患と遺伝子と環境の相互作用を個体群レベルで明らかにするために、パプアニューギニアに居住する2集団(バロパ族およびギデラ族)より収集した血液試料のうち、今年度は主にバロパ族を対象に分析を行った。バロパ族はオーストロネシアンに属し、非オーストロネシアンのギデラ族に比べ、近代化が比較的早くから進行している地域に居住している。(1)疾患に関しては、マラリア抗体価検査から大部分の対象者が感染を受けていることが明らかとなった。また、B型肝炎ウイルス、C型肝炎ウイルス、HTLV-Iの感染マーカーはいずれも高い陽性率を示した。(2)環境適応を強く反映する栄養状態関連指標のうち、(1)貧血者が男性で18%、女性で26%みられ、(2)脂質栄養に関しては、血清中総コレステロール濃度が200mg/dlを越える高値を示したものが男性で10%、女性で14%含まれていたことなどを明らかにするとともに、(3)血清中の脂溶性ビタミンおよびミネラル・微量元素の分析結果から、発展途上国集団で特にその欠乏が問題となるビタミンA、鉄、亜鉛の栄養状態について検討した。レチノール濃度から判断したビタミンAの栄養状態は比較的良好であった。それに対し、血清鉄濃度およびトランスフェリン飽和率からみた鉄欠乏者割合は、男性で6%、女性で24%であり、特に女性で鉄の低栄養状態が問題となった。また、亜鉛の栄養状態に関しても、血清中濃度は低く、正常値の下限とされている0.7μg/ml未満のものが男性で41%、女性で50%みられた。(3)遺伝指標に関しては、ギデラ族を対象とした分析を行い、729試料中、約半数についてHLA-DRB1遺伝子のアリルタイピングを終了し、既に13種類のアリルの存在を確認した。(4)既にフィールドワークで得られている生態学的データを加え、疾患、栄養状態、遺伝の相互作用を統合した人口動態シミュレーションモデル作成のための基本的な枠組みを設定した。
