研究概要

可換Banach環Aが与えられたとき、Aの任意の元またはA上の乗作用素のGelfand変換による表現関数がAのGelfand空間上の連続関数の『ある種の条件』で完全に特徴付けられるか?またそのような特徴付けを持つ可換Banach環のクラスには実際どんな可換Banach環が属するのか?またBanach A-moduleについてはどうなのか?このような問題を解くことによって可換Banach環及びBanach moduleの分類の研究に役立てようと言うのが本研究の主目的であった。
そこで群環に関するBochner-Schoenberg-Eberleinの定理を一般化したBSE-環と言うクラスを導入し、これまで研究を続けてきた。また昨年度は群環に関するDossの定理を擬位相と言う新しい概念によって一般化したDoss-環と言うクラスを導入し、このクラスに属する可換Banach環及びBSE-環との関連性について研究してきた。今年度は引き続きこれらのクラスを更に研究した。特に局所コンパクト可換群の双対群G^の閉部分集合Eに対して、その核I(E)がBSE-環であることと、EがG^のdiscrete coset-ringに属することとは同値であり、そのときI(E)はDoss環でもあることが分かった。また代表的なSegal環S^p(G)(p>1)及びA_p(G)(p>2)は共にBSE-環であるが、Doss環でないことが分かった。従って我々の理論に従えば両者は必ず有界弱近似単位元を有するのであるが、G=R^nに対しては、実際極小弱近似単位元の構成に成功した。
他にDouglas環は最大正則部分環と、Apostol環が一致する可換Banach環のクラスに属すること、またそのような環は、自然スペクトルの概念を用いてある種の分解ができることが分かった。また可換Banach環に関連して関数空間上の作用素関数の研究では、非自明な関数空間に作用する非Lipschitz関数及び作用しない非Lipschitz関数の特徴付けに成功した。更に可換Banach環上の環準同型写像の構造及びノルムに関する不等式、等式等の研究がなされた。
しかしながらBanach moduleに対する同様の研究は今後の課題として残った。
