研究概要	光反応や光応答などの光変換の研究は光化学の方法論を検討するための基礎研究としてのみならず、光科学における分子デバイスの開発につながる研究として注目されている。本研究では光機能性分子素子の組織性をその機能性と関連して研究した。 (1)芳香族不飽和カルボン酸の立体選択的光二量化反応がベシクル二分子膜を反応場とするときに効率よく進行することに着目し、類似の組織性を持つ単分子膜内での両親媒性分子と反応分子の配列を明らかにした。単分子膜の表面圧-面積(π-A)等温線とLangmuir-Blodgett(LB)膜の原子間力顕微鏡(AFM)写真に基づいた解析により、桂皮酸イオンは調製直後にはジオクタデシルジメチルアンモニウム単分子膜の親水表面上に静電結合していることが明らかとなった。しかしながら、桂皮酸イオンは長時間の間に単分子膜内に挿入する。光反応から得られた二量体の収率と異性種の立体選択性は桂皮酸分子が単分子膜内で平行配列している事実によって支持された。 (2)両親媒性分子と混合したアゾ色素のLB膜内での色素の分布と配向性を検討した。親水基と疎水基を有するアゾ色素(YOPE)は、水面上に単分子膜として展開したとき、広い分子面積を占める。アラキジン酸との混合系のπ-A曲線は明らかに2種分子のπ-A曲線の算術平均的な曲線を示した。この結果を反映して、アラキジン酸からなる二次元的な円板状のドメインがAFMによって観察された。これが顕著な相分離状態であることは明白である。連続相であるYOPEリッチ相の領域は表面積の縮小により減少し、さらに表面に垂直な方向への分子の堆積が観察された。表面積の変化に伴ってYOPE分子の配列が顕著に変化することが示唆された。
