異型配偶の進化と配偶子の走光性及び性誘因機構

研究概要	同型配偶から異型配偶への進化については、数理生物学の理論によってその進化生態学的条件が詳細に解析され数多くの論文や解説書が公表され一般にも注目されている。しかし、これらの理論の根拠となる仮定はかなり単純化されており、配偶子の挙動や接合子の適応度と個体の体制分化に関する実測データの集積の必要性が指摘されている。そこで異形世代交代を行う海産緑藻について、配偶体と胞子体の体制分化の程度を比較考慮しながら、同型配偶から異型配偶への進化が雌雄配偶子のサイズ、鞭毛の長さ、走光性、遊泳速度、遊泳持続時間、性誘因機構がどのように関与しているかを研究した。1)配偶体が1層の葉状体であり胞子体が単細胞のシストであるエゾヒトエグサ(Monostroma angicava)では、僅かに異型の配偶子間で受精が起こる。雌雄の配偶子は共に走光性を示し、遊泳速度と遊泳持続時間について僅かに雌雄間で差異が認められた。雌雄個体が各々配偶子生産に当てる資源量は等しく、異型配偶子の生産は配偶子形成に関与する細胞分裂回数の差異に起因し、雄は雌の2倍の数の配偶子を放出している。2)配偶体が羽状の管状多核体であり胞子体がミクロの糸状体であるハネモ(Bryopsis plumosa)では、明確に異型の配偶子間で受精が起こる。雄配偶子には眼点が無く走光性を示さないが、雌配偶子には眼点があり走光性を示す。遊泳速度と遊泳持続時間について雌雄間で顕著な差異が認められ、雄配偶子はより早く泳ぐが短命である。雌配偶子嚢及び雌配偶子はフエロモン様物質により雄配偶子を誘因する。3)配偶体が嚢状多核体であり胞子体が直立分岐糸状体であるツユノイトケバ(Derbesia tenuissima)では、ハネモよりさらに明確な異型の配偶子間で受精が起こる。雌雄の配偶子は共に走光性を示さず、性フエロモンが受精に重要な役割を果たしていることが推察される。
