超高性能衛星搭載発振器を用いた新しい電波科学惑星探査法の開発

研究概要

Planet-Bによる火星電波科学観測計画は、計画当初に考えられていたわが国単独の機器開発・データ解析から発展し、探査の基本となる超高安定搭載発振器を米国NASAの供給、データ取得・解析はおもに米国JPLおよびStanford大学との協力になった。その中で我々は(1)搭載機器と探査機のインターフェース調整、(2)取得データの圧縮・フィルタ処理技術の開発、(3)火星大気・電離層解析手法開発、(4)太陽風・月電離層観測計画を担当することになった。平成8年度においてはこのうち本研究に関わる(2)について研究を行った(他の項目について研究は続けられているが、本研究と直接関係ないのでここでは述べない)。火星は、従来知られている火星大気・表面形状から、探査機からの電波の周波数変動が微少であることと、多少の惑星形状の球対称からのずれがあることから、日変動レベルの小さな大気物理量変動を検知するために、従来のドップラ周波数からではなく、電波の位相から直接大気情報に変換するアルゴリズムの開発、及び任意のジオイド面形状に対応してray tracingを用いたiterationを行うことにより物理的に実現可能な光路を探すアルゴリズムを開発した。前者は球対称近似で、数学的手法はFjeldboらにより知られていたが、それをソフトウエアとして実装した。後者はもちろん任意の惑星形状に応じたものであるが、平成9年度においては両アルゴリズムを融合する努力を行う予定である。
