液晶分子の高ジアステレオ選択的不斉合成法の開発とその分子間相互作用の解析

研究概要	近年、反強誘電性液晶は、高速応答性や真のメモリー性を備え、かつ強誘電性液晶の技術的な問題を解決しうる可能性から特に注目されている。こうした反強誘電性の発現には、光学活性部に大きな自発分極を持つことが必要であり、極性の大きなトリフルオロメチル基の導入が有効とされている。さらに、隣接する層間における光学活性アルキル直鎖部分の立体配座的な重なり合いと、自発分極の反平行なペアリングによる分子間配列の安定化が必要と考えられている。そこで本申請研究では、光学活性部位の立体配座を規定する目的でトリフルオロメチル基を有するジアステレオマ-液晶を新たに分子設計し、その効率的な不斉合成法の開発と、それより誘導される液晶分子の分子力学および分子軌道計算に基づく立体配座解析を行い反強誘電性の発現機構を解明することを目的とした。申請者らは、既にフロラールを親エン体とする高エナンチオ選択的な不斉触媒的エン反応の開発に成功している。そこでこの不斉触媒的フロラール-エン反応に基づき、α-トルフルオロ-β-メチルカルビノールのジアステレオ選択的な不斉合成法を開発した。さらに、高ジアステレオおよびエナンチオ選択的に合成した液晶分子の立体配座を分子力学および分子軌道計算によって解析した結果、反強誘電性の発現には光学活性アルキル直鎖部分が液晶分子長軸に対して折れ曲がった配座が鍵配座であることを明らかにした。次いで、液晶分子内での双極子モーメントの反平行ペアリングを考え、C_2対称性を有しメチレン鎖が3と短く、従ってその立体配座がrigidに規定しうると考えられるジオールを光学活性部位とする液晶分子を設計した。光学活性ジオールの触媒的不斉合成は、反応性の高いビニルスルフィドをエン体として、フロラールを二当量以上用いることによって、エン反応を二方向に行うことで達成した。またこれより誘導した液晶分子の分子力学および分子軌道計算により分子の立体配座を明らかにした。
