研究概要	本年度の研究は三つの期間に分けることができる。以下各期間ごとにその概要を述べる。 (第一期、4月より8月)昨年度で修了した国際学術調査「アラスカとスピッツベルゲンにおける極成層圏エアロゾルの観測」にて明らかとなった液体PSCに関し:高濃度のPSCは、北極上空では、必ずといって良いほど、大粒径液滴PSCとして観測されており、不均一科学反応過程でオゾン減少が生じているならば、この液滴PSCが主要な役割を果たしていることがほぼ確実と考えられる。1996/1997年冬期、“北極オゾンホール"とまで表現されるに至った北極低濃度オゾン領域と、同じく1997年2月に同学術調査のライダー観測で見いだされた高濃度大粒径液体PSCの間の関連を観測データ、気象データ、衛星データなどを用いて解析を試みた。 (第二期、9月より11月)この期間は、前年度までの観測結果の解析をすすめるとともに、ドイツ、アラスカ、及びスピッツベルゲンの現地において観測予備調査、機器の整備、現地研究者との打ち合わせ等をおこない、来る冬期の観測キャンペーンにむけての準備を整えた。 (第三期、12月より3月)この期間は、ライダー観測を中心に、スピッツベルゲンでは気球搭載エアロゾル計測器によるエアロゾル観測、アラスカではレーザーヘテロダインによるオゾン・HNO_3観測も重ねておこなった。また地上でのエアロゾル採集も実施した。PSCsは、本年度冬季は2月下旬にいたるまでの間スピッツベルゲンではほとんど観測されない。ただし、2月上旬から対流圏界面付近に偏向解消度の小さい巻雲が数日連続して現れた。雲の上端は通常の圏界面高度を超えており、PSCとの関連に興味が待たれる。
