研究概要

平成10年度の研究計画に基づき、日本、米国、フランス、ドイツの複数の研究者がお互いに訪問しあい、平成9年度で得られた交流成果の上に、3次元マイクロ構造製作プロセス、ナノ領域における3次元マイクロ構造の検討、応用システムの検討の3分野を中心に更にマイクロメカトロニクスに関する深い議論、活発な意見交換、共同研究を行なった。特に、今年度においては、マイクロメカトロニクスがナノ領域まで研究領域を広げる道筋を体系的に検討するという新しい進展を示すことができた。これは日・仏の本研究の分担者らが中心となりナノに関する国際ワークショップを開催し集中的に討論した成果である。この成果を受けて、ナノ領域の新しい研究分野が生まれつつある。
本研究の研究成果は著名な国際会議、ワークショップ等において数多く発表されており、国際的に高い評価を受けており、マイクロメカトロニクス及び新しい研究分野であるナノテクノロジーに大きなインパクトを与えている。
平成9年度、10年度の本研究成果は現在、世界中で注目を集めつつあるナノ・ピコテクノロジーに対して多大な貢献を与え、今後この分野での我が国の優位性を得るための基礎的な成果となっている。
今後の展開としては、マイクロ領域からナノ領域への研究課題の移行を念頭に置いた、組織的な研究が望まれる。米国では、既にそのような動きが出ており、我が国においても現在の優位性を保つためにもナノに特化したプロジェクトが必要である。
