研究概要

本年度は最終年度であるので、これまでの各研究者あるいは研究者間で行われた共同研究の成果を国際シンポジウムの開催により公開した。国際シンポジウムは、日本機械学会1999年年次大会内の企画の一環に地位づけ、1999年7月28日(水)に慶應義塾大学三田キャンパスにおいて開催された。したがって、機械学会の年次大会参加者に対して広く公開され、手法としては分子動力学法(MD)のみならず、ラエィス・トラッピング、メゾメカニクス的手法にわたり、また対象も従来の金属材料からセラミックス、ナノ結晶材料、シリコンの共有性材料と多岐にわたった。そして、本テーマに関連するワークショップをその翌日7月29日(木)に東京工業大学において開催し、科研のメンバーに加えて研究協力者3名、そして公募による講演者4名による研究発表会を行った。ここでは、第一原理計算から均質化法や有限要素解析の話題も含み、例えば界面強度を量子力学からの考察と従来の破壊力学による検討とが交差した内容の充実した議論と情報交換が行われた。
最後に、この3年間の成果を日本材料学会英文誌Materlas Science Research International(MSRI)の1999年12月号に特集号として出版した。ここでは、研究代表者によるPrefaceをはじめ、3編のReview papersと3編Original papersが収録されており、特に研究者間の共同作業によるReview papersが掲載されていることは意義深い成果である。
