光電荷分離機能を持つ分子による電極修飾とその光電変換

研究概要	植物の光合成を模した光電荷分離機能分子の電極表面上での高秩序化した分子集合体の構築およびその光電変換機能を目指して研究を行い、以下の成果を得た。1)光電荷分離機能をもつ分子として従来よりもさらに電荷分離の寿命が長いと期待される三元系化合物を合成した。この化合物においてはポルフィリン、ピロメリットイミドおよびC60発色団が組み込まれている。この化合物は従来の類似化合物に比べて比較的長い電荷分離状態(1.3ns)を与えた。これは我々が提唱した"C60は電荷分離過程の電子移動を促進し、電荷再結合過程の電子移動を遅くする性質を持つ。"という結果を再確認するものであり、C60を電子移動系のアクセプター部品として使用することの有利さがあらためて明らかとなった。2)光電荷分離機能分子として末端にメチルチオ基を持つポルフィリン-C60連結二元系分子を合成し、金基板上に超薄膜化された。光電流を発生するこの膜の構造に関する情報を得るために種々の測定を行い、以下のような結果を得た。(1)X線光電子スペクトルから金基板上に上記二元系化合物が超薄膜化していることが支持された。また、従来のチオールやジスルフィド類に加えて、比較的合成が容易なチオエーテル類を用いても自己集合単分子膜が形成されることが明らかとなった。(2)エリプソメトリー法による膜厚の見積もりおよびサイクリックボルタンメトリー法による吸着分子数の見積もりから良質の単分子膜に比べて本実験では1〜2桁ほど被覆率が悪いことが判った。(3)フェーリエ変換赤外分光法による透過スペクトルと反射吸収スペクトルから分子が表面に対して垂直ではなく、平行に近く固定されていることが判った。
